Writing Contest Information & Application

Annual Writing Contest Submission

Dear students, parents, guardians, foster parents, principals, teachers, and anyone else who interacts with the children of our community: All Antelope Valley students in grades 1-12 are invited to enter our freestyle writing contest.

This year’s theme is: "To me,Respect means..."
Asking some questions can help us understand some of the many important qualities of happy families. Think about a time when your family enjoyed a day together. What family activity did you do? How did the family members communicate with one another? How does your family adjust as kids grow and change? What family rules and roles help you get along and which ones, if any, get in the way? How does your family make room for individual differences? How does your family solve problems? How does your family support its members to be the best that they can be? How do you know they are needed?
We hope these questions will inspire your thinking and writing about what makes families satisfying to their members. We look forward to receiving your entries and hope to see you at the awards ceremony!
